Wait, Is Warner Bros Scrapping Its $70 Million Batgirl Movie? Rumors Are Swirling

Reports have come out about the Batgirl movie perhaps never answering the Bat signal.

Bat Girl movie completely scrapped by Warner Bros?!

Bat Girl has apparently been completely scrapped by Warner Bros. Originally it was set for a HBO Max release. The budget went to 90 mil and then there was talk it would go to theaters. Now reports are that the new regime at Warner Bros is going to scrap it completely. What does this have to do with The Flash? This is another Michael Keaton Batman appearance that might not see light of day. What is going on over there?

Why Warner Bros Cancelled DC’s Batgirl Movie Despite Close to $100m Spent? #shorts

Why Warner Bros Cancelled DC’s Batgirl Movie

It’s difficult to understand why Warner Bros. has decided not to release Batgirl in any way, especially given that the film is finished.

As Warner Bros. planned a late-2022 release date for the film, test screenings began to evaluate audience reaction. According to the New York Post, the film’s earliest test screenings got largely negative reactions from audiences. The reaction was so negative that Warner Bros. decided to cut their losses and simply cancel the project, feeling that an irredeemable Batgirl film would be too destructive to the DCEU’s future.

Another reason for the film’s cancellation was that Warner Bros. has committed to make DC movies big, theatrical, and Batgirl just did not match this criteria. Despite the film’s close to $100 million budget after reshoots, the film’s bad reaction apparently prompted WB to recognize it wasn’t on the same level as the upcoming Black Adam or Shazam 2.
